Governance

The Fordham Foundation approved Citizens of the World’s application to provide a rigorous, high-quality education to a racially and socioeconomically diverse community of families in Cincinnati. By Spring 2021, Citizens of the World will sign the final charter contract with Fordham that the school will be held accountable to.

From that point forward through the launch of the school, CWC Cincinnati will be governed by a locally based, high-quality, not-for-profit board of directors. The board is responsible for monitoring school performance and compliance, holding school leadership accountable, ensuring legal and ethical integrity, hearing appeals from parents, establishing school policies and for financial oversight of the schools. Board meetings will be open to the public, and the board will select an independent treasurer.

We are in the midst of the recruitment process for CWC Cincinnati’s founding board. As CWC Schools has been on the ground in Cincinnati since 2016, we have built a network of community stakeholders and organizations; we have asked such stakeholders to nominate individuals and have built a pool of locally based high quality candidates for the board.
